Course TitleEducation Program Evaluation
DescriptionThis course introduces participants to the reasons for and practice of evaluating their education and outreach programs. Participants learn the skills of designing and using their own high-quality tools for program evaluation. These tools are used to shed light on the perceptions, experiences, expectations, demographics, beliefs and intentions of a program audience. Ultimately, program evaluation skills become extremely useful for those wishing to improve their existing programs.
List reasons for and methods of evaluating education and outreach programs;
Compare qualitative and quantitative methods for program evaluation;
Explain the uses and techniques of various evaluation tools including surveys, interviews, focus groups and observations;
Describe alternative assessment techniques;
Apply evaluation results to improve your education and outreach programs; and
Discuss case studies of evaluation plans and findings.
Target Audience:
Outdoor recreation planners; employees involved with partnerships, public affairs, education, and outreach; project leaders; biologists; and anyone designing or implementing education and outreach programs.
