Benjamin Allan Robertson (1945-1989)

Ben was born in Miami, Arizona on May 9, 1945.  He graduated from Arizona State University in 1975.  He came to San Bernardino Wildlife Refuge in April 1983 where he became the Refuge Manager.   He had previously worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Pinestop and Phoenix, Arizona and Gallup, New Mexico.  Ben worked for the Federal Government for fifteen years and was a dedicated employee.  He wrote the Master Plan for the San Bernardino NWR which guided the development of the refuge.  He began many revegetation projects to restore wetland, riparian, and grassland habitats at the refuge.  Although primarily a fisheries biologist, his interest in all wildlife inspired him to develop a bird checklist for the refuge.
