| Course Title | Advanced Supervision: Building On Experience |
| Description | If it’s been some time since you took basic supervisory training, a lot of things may have changed. This course provides the experienced supervisor with updated information on regulations, the latest theories in managing people, and an opportunity to share experiences and learn from others. Although the focus of this course is on managing performance and conduct, participants also learn techniques for supervising in a team environment. Specific topics include: an overview of recent changes in personnel regulations; performance improvement plans; progressive discipline; coaching and feedback skills; team supervision, and managing multiple locations. This course is offered once a year at the NCTC, and is not recommended for supervisors with less than two years of experience. |
| Objectives | Determine whether an issue is related to performance or conduct; Determine the appropriate action to take based on the issue; Prepare a performance improvement plan; Apply progressive discipline to conduct problems; Hold team members accountable; and Supervise from a distance. |
